Remembering the Battle Of Midway: Seizing Momentum in the Pacific Theater During World War II

Last month The Washington Times put together a wonderful tribute section for Jimmy Doolittle’s Tokyo Raiders on their website. To mark Monday’s 70th anniversary, The Times has created an equally wonderful tribute to the Battle of Midway and its significance to winning World War II.

The video below is in an overview of the battle, as well its significance and importance to victory in the Pacific Theater. I encourage you to head over to The Washington Times site to check out the rest of the exhibit.

Obama Administration: War on Terror Is Over, Time to Embrace Islamism

On this week’s edition of The Conservative Beacon Podcast, Josh Price discusses the Obama administration’s recent declaration that the War on Terror is over and that it’s now time to embrace Islamism.

Josh also discusses Barack Obama’s enemies list–who’s on it and what it means for you.

Also, is it now a myth that conservatives believe in smaller government? And finally, is America in decline or just decadent?

Remembering Jimmy Doolittle’s Raiders

You had a job to do, and you just did it. You got in a plane and shut up unless you were supposed to talk.

–Maj. (Ret.) USAF Navigator of Crew 9 Thomas C. Griffin

This Wednesday, April 18, 2012, marks the 70th anniversary the Doolittle Raid on Japan.

The raid had a relatively insignificant physical impact on Japan but it destroyed the perceived invulnerability of the Japanese. Perhaps even more importantly, the raid provided a necessary morale booster to Americans who were reeling following the December 7 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

The Washington Times is commemorating the 70th anniversary with well-produced, touching, and inspiring profiles of the five remaining survivors of the raid.

I strongly encourage you to check them out. The bravery and unbridled patriotism of these men is absolutely astounding and inspiring.

Trickle Down Tyranny Is The Blueprint For Defeating Obama

Economies can be rebuilt, armies can be repopulated, but once a nation’s pride is gone it can almost never be restored. The loss of a nation’s honor is something not even centuries can repair.

–Michael Savage, Trickle Down Tyranny: Crushing Obama’s Dream Of The Socialist States Of America

Conservative radio talk-show host and New York Times bestselling author Michael Savage returns to the written word this week with what might turn out to be his most important contribution to America and, in a broader sense, the preservation of traditional Western culture: Trickle Down Tyranny: Crushing Obama’s Dream Of The Socialist States Of America.

Savage returns to the literary world in his sixth non-fiction political work with a sobering, non-pollyannish State of The Union under the emerging dictator Barack Hussein Obama. He puts forth, as only Savage can, an unambiguous and concise blueprint, devoid of bumper-sticker platitudes, that will lead to the defeat of Obama’s attempted socialist takeover of America.

Savage begins Trickle Down Tyranny with an important premise that few will state, including the Republican frontrunner for president, Mitt Romney: Obama hates America and virtually everything for which it has stood for almost 236 years.

Savage writes, “Obama–classic narcissist that he is–is remaking this country in his own image, turning it into something that reflects the belief system he was brainwashed into accepting by the leftist mentors of his youth.” (p. 41)

Under Obama, the notion of American Exceptionalism, at least the Tocqueville-Reagan depiction of a shining beacon of liberty radiating throughout the world, ceases to exist. Sure, America is still exceptional. If by exceptional one is referring to a former global superpower that now resembles a Lesser-Developed Country seemingly headed towards Third World status.

We are playing witness to the emergence of, as Savage would say, a would-be dictator in Obama the likes of which we have not seen since since Obama’s idol, FDR. He is driving us towards a Third-World Banana Republic ruled by a puppet dictator.

In response to the tyrannical actions of Obama which include the appointment of unaccountable czars, destroying economic liberty, ignoring the will of the People, trampling on States’ rights, etc., Savage calls for a new Declaration of Independence. A new declaration is needed, Savage writes, because “Obama fits our founders’ definition of a tyrant.” (p. 31)

Think we’ll ever hear the Republican nominee describe the threat Obama poses to liberty in such unequivocal terms? Of course not! And that is the only reason why an Obama defeat in November remains in doubt. The majority of Americans disapprove of the job Obama has done. How could they not? Many of them only voted for Obama in 2008 simply because they were caught up in the tsunami of celebrity and superficial awe generated by the mainstream media. Most of them had immediate voter’s remorse.

Americans are now pleading for a leader to emerge that will defeat Obama and his Fabian-socialist takeover of America. Savage provides the blueprint for defeating Obama in a single paragraph:

The list of economic failures includes the first debt downgrade in U.S. history, and the highest budget deficits, federal spending, and federal debt as a percentage of GDP since World War II. Under Obama home ownership has declined to its lowest level since the 1960s. The number of Americans paying taxes is the lowest in the modern era, while those dependent on the government for aid is the highest in history.

That is Obama’s record. It’s indefensible. That is Obama’s America. It’s, to use a word the “green” movement loves, unsustainable. (You’re welcome, GOP, for the free campaign theme: “Obama’s America: It’s unsustainable.”)

The Republican nominee should quote that paragraph at every stump speech and appearance during the 2012 campaign. But I’m not so sure there is a leader in the Republican Party with the intestinal fortitude of Michael Savage.

One thing is for sure. We will know the leader when we see him because, according to Savage, he “must love America. The next president must embody unequivocally everything that is good about this country going back to its founding.”

If such a leader emerges and Barack Obama is defeated, Trickle Down Tyranny will not be known simply as another New York Times Bestseller, but instead as the catalyst for restoring America’s honor and pride.

Islamofascist Accused of Wanting to Bomb Tampa-Area Sites

sami osmakacJust a little reminder that Islamofascists are still very much at war with us.

A chilling terrorist plot ended with the weekend arrest of a 25-year-old immigrant from Kosovo, FBI agents say. Sami Osmakac allegedly told undercover investigators that he wanted to “die the Islamic way” after attacking locations in Ybor City and South Tampa.

The five-month investigation culminated with a sting operation on Saturday. Osmakac was arrested after he allegedly took possession of explosives and firearms that had been rendered inoperable by law enforcement.

Among Osmakac’s alleged bomb targets were nightclubs in the Ybor City area of Tampa, the operations center of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Ybor City, and a business in the South Tampa area.

As part of the second portion of his planned attack, Osmakac allegedly told the undercover FBI employee that, after the car bomb was detonated, he wanted to wear an explosive belt and “get in somewhere where there’s a lot of people” and take hostages.

“Once I have this…they can take me in five million pieces,” he allegedly added, in an apparent reference to a suicide blast.

And right on cue, The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has immediately come to the alleged terrorist’s defense:

Despite Osmakac’s commitment to carry out multiple deadly attacks, CAIR officials went on the offensive against the FBI for capturing another “innocent” Muslim. Trying to create tension between Muslim Americans and law enforcement is part of CAIR’s regular response to government counterterrorism investigations.

Executive Director of CAIR San Francisco Zahra Billoo was quick to paint the arrest as a scam, stating that she was “wondering how much of the thwarted terror plot in Florida was seeded by the FBI, [a]ppreciating that even the MSM mentioned the informants.” Dawud Walid, Executive Director of CAIR-Michigan, released a tweet saying, “it is not the job of civil rights groups to be commending the FBI on their use of informants, given the FBI’s history.”

Islamofascists are at war with us and how does our President and Commander-in-Chief combat it? By slashing the Defense Department’s budget and drastically cutting the number of troops in our armed forces.

Obama Releases Taliban Terrorists from GITMO

taliban fighters We mentioned last week that President Obama was considering acquiescing to a Taliban demand that the U.S. release Taliban fighters being held at GITMO as a prerequisite to any further peace talks.

Obama has met their demand:

The US has agreed in principle to release high-ranking Taliban officials from Guantánamo Bay in return for the Afghan insurgents’ agreement to open a political office for peace negotiations in Qatar, the Guardian has learned.

According to sources familiar with the talks in the US and in Afghanistan, the handful of Taliban figures will include Mullah Khair Khowa, a former interior minister, and Noorullah Noori, a former governor in northern Afghanistan.

More controversially, the Taliban are demanding the release of the former army commander Mullah Fazl Akhund. Washington is reported to be considering formally handing him over to the custody of another country, possibly Qatar.

This is extremely dangerous foreign policy. Not only is Obama negotiating with terrorists (yes, the Taliban have become terrorists), he’s acquiescing to their demands, meeting their conditions. This is incredibly dangerous.

This approach emboldens the enemy.

Taliban Call for Pakistani Militants to Join Fight Against America

TalibanThe AP is reporting that high-ranking Al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters met with leaders of various Pakistani militant groups in an attempt to encourage them to join the fight against the U.S. in Afghanistan.

The meetings were held in Pakistan’s tribal region in November and December at the request of the Afghan Taliban’s leadership council. They could indicate the militants are struggling in Afghanistan, or conversely, that they want to make sure they hit U.S. forces hard as the Americans accelerate their withdrawal this year. That could give the Taliban additional leverage in any peace negotiations.

“For God’s sake, forget all your differences and give us fighters to boost the battle against America in Afghanistan,” senior Al Qaedacommander Abu Yahya al-Libi told Pakistani fighters at a meeting on Dec. 11, according to a militant who attended.

For those who don’t believe that the Taliban are an enemy of the United States (like Vice President Joe Biden), please read that again.

The Taliban are an enemy of America. They initially harbored and supported Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, eventually joining them in the fight against us. They are now pleading for fellow militants to join the cause. These are indisputable facts.

It is incredibly dangerous to believe that they aren’t an enemy of the United States.

Obama Ponders Releasing Taliban Terrorist

Mohammed FaslLet me sum up President Obama’s approach to foreign policy for you: Negotiate with and placate terrorists, namely Islamofascists.

The U.S. is considering a proposal to transfer a top Taliban commander out of the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay as part of a potential step toward peace talks with the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan.

A senior U.S. official confirmed to Fox News that Mullah Mohammed Fazl is among the prisoners being considered for release. Held at Guantanamo Bay since 2002, Fazl was suspected in sectarian killings of Shiite Muslims before the U.S. invasion that toppled the Taliban government in Afghanistan in 2001.

The U.S. alleges he was a top Taliban official who at one point commanded thousands of troops.

According to Reuters, WikiLeaks documents also placed him at the scene of a 2001 prison riot where CIA officer Johnny Micheal Spann was killed, though it’s unclear whether Fazl was involved.

Ex-Pakistani Army Chief: Pakistani Army hid Osama bin Laden

Osama Bin LadenThis should come as no surprise to you.

An article on the Jamestown Foundation website, which cited Butt, said that despite denials, evidence is emerging that “elements within the Pakistani military harboured Osama with the knowledge of Musharraf and Kayani”. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani is the current army chief.

Ziauddin Butt, a former army chief, told a conference on Pakistani-US ties in October 2011 that according to his knowledge then director general of Intelligence Bureau, Brigadier (retd.) Ijaz Shah, had “kept Osama bin Laden in an Intelligence Bureau safe house in Abbottabad”.

The report said Butt told the daily Dawn Dec 11 that he fully believed that “(Brigadier) Ijaz Shah had kept this man (bin Laden in the Abbottabad compound) with the full knowledge of General Pervez Musharraf…” Butt added, “Ijaz Shah was an all-powerful official in the government of General Musharraf”.
