Look out! It’s only the Kimmer for June 9, 2010

Designed by Insanity Island

This is the tenth and final episode of our trial run of Look out! It’s only the Kimmer sponsored by Solomon Brothers Fine Jewelry in Atlanta, GA. Your listenership and support have made this an overwhelming success!

Due to Kimmer’s unexpectedly hectic schedule, we’re going to take a little bit of a hiatus over the summer. As you all know, Kimmer is retired and enjoying it by spending a lot of time taking horse riding lessons. His summer schedule has gotten a bit erratic and hectic, so we have deiced to take most of the summer off and hopefully pick this (or some intimation) up early in the fall.

In the mean time, Kimmer and I are very grateful for your support and we hope that these ten episodes will tide everyone over for a couple of months. Also, please give Ivan Solomon and everyone else at Solomon Brothers a chance to be your jeweler. The podcast would not be possible without their support. If you’re in Atlanta, please go visit their showroom in Buckhead. If you’re not in Atlanta visit them on the Web at SolomonBrothers.com. Kimmer and I both assure you that you will not be disappointed with the quality of experience you’ll get from Solomon Brothers.

Also, a big thanks to the fantastic conservative cartoonists Doug Hayden and Chris Pendarvis of Insanity Island. Chris and Doug are the designers behind The Conservative Beacon’s “Uncle Sam” logo and the logo for Look out! It’s only the Kimmer. As you can tell, these guys are unbelievably talented. They are doing their part to combat conservative-bashing shows like Family Guy and American Dad. They need our support.

With that, thank you all again for your support and please stay tuned to The Conservative Beacon for updates on the return of Look out! It’s only the Kimmer!

    We want more! More Kimmer!

Fond memories of “holy crap it’s sports” with Snake Davis (greg mcmichael, whose balls dip away to the left, and Bo Outlaw -zuff whuff zuff whuff it’s over now, i’m going to go home, get something to eat, go to sleep and get up.)

Even fonder memories of Keith Kalland – the ubiquitous ladder in the roadway, cobbikazies, and the Alpharetta Autobahn.

And why did I feel like I needed to take a shower (alone) every time I heard Leslie Dove?

And I always got a kick out of the segments sponsored by Glingman’s Gloms. I’ve needed gloms for years, but still have never been able to find Glingman’s Gloms. I’m sure that the Kimmer can tell us where they’re located, because I’ve been glomless for years.

Hide the zorgada-zorgada in the hongada hongada!

I also have copied the Kimmer when I dial the phone… bingidy bangity bongity, bingity bangity bongity bingity.

Can’t wait for more podcasts! Thanks Josh for doing this, and thanks to the Kimmer for coming out of retirement. You have no idea how you’ve really made my day!

Again, I talked to Rupert – he says you can’t have his prostate and he doesn’t need your liver.

  • Larry Carlisle

Hey guys. Can’t tell you how much I enjoy listening to the podcast. For years I drove home in the Atlanta traffic or made my sales calls late in the afternoon and I enjoyed listening to the Kimmer so much. It was fun to hear Kim’s take on the stories of the day and the parodies and radio skits sent me home laughing. Hey! everybody was happier listening to the Kimmer! I know my wife was happier…….I don’t even know what that means! Anyway, I emailed management at GST after they purged the on-air talent promising to never listen to the station again except for the Limbaugh show and I have kept my promise. I miss Tom Hughes and I miss you Kimmer. Can’t you come back to work here?

  • itpdude

Josh, you are an idiot. Atlantic Station is doing fine. The place is not for me, but it’s doing fine. It has the Publix, movie theater, etc, and is doing fine.

Doing worse than Underground? Where are you from? I went there for a flick on Sunday and the joint was packed.

Being conservative does not mean making unfounded statements.

To Kimmer, good luck to you, brother. I sincerely hope you get a gig in Atlanta.

  • Josh Price

@itpdude: Really, Publix? You’re going to try to convince me Atlantic Station (AS) has validated all the hype surrounding its opening by touting it the fact has a Publix? Well, good for Atlantic Station. I mean, it’s not like almost every other shopping center across the Southeast has a Publix.

The point I was getting at is that AS was sold to everyone as the way to revitalize and restore midtown; it hasn’t. Last time I was there it had an American Eagle, DSW, Victoria’s Secret, Publix, the theater and a few other stores. You know what that’s called? A glorified mall with a grocery store! Is it worse than Underground? No, and I stopped myself from saying that. But it hasn’t lived up to the hype.

  • itpdude

Josh, are you blocking my messages? Because I gave you a complete list of all the stores in AS. Here is the website: http://www.shopatlanticstation.com/

There’s probably more than 50 shops and stores at AS. And the place is packed. And, as a resident of Atlanta since 1996 (I’m guessing you are a suburbanite), I see the impact AS has had on the area. It is positive. And it’s a lot more sustainable than many of the places in the burbs such as Mall of GA or Gwinnett Place, etc.

I’m not saying I like AS. But I’m saying your assessment is plainly ignorant.

  • Josh Price

iptdude: Definitely not blocking your messages. There have been a few issues with the site since Monday but I believe they are fixed.

I was a suburbanite while I lived in the Atlanta area (for the first 27 years of my life) but I spent quite a bit of time in the midtown/Tech area (and Buckhead and Little Five Points). I haven’t been to AS since I moved late last year, so I won’t comment on what it’s like now. Maybe it has improved. And like you, I’m not saying that I don’t like AS, I just don’t believe it has lived up to all the hype (many things don’t). I will say that it is definitely better than Underground.

  • itpdude

Josh, no, I’m not saying I like AS. I went there for a flick because my A/C broke this past Sunday and it was ball-hot. I normally go to the drive-in for movies.

I like the idea of bringing my own beer and packing heat in the glovebox of my truck. Shoot, I’ve even grilled at the drive-in.

But as for AS, it’s another homage to the materialism of Americans. I’m a confused conservative, I guess. I’m into the free-market but dislike consumerism.

Even from the standpoint of not being a fan of AS, it looked like a busy place to me. I had to go to the bottom deck for parking around noon on Sunday.

One thing that I see being a problem in the area is lack of a convenient train. There is TBS in the area and all they’ve done is develop more roads, and we see where building more roads has taken us. Costly Congestion.

But Atlanta has never been real smart with regards to rail-transit (which is, in large cities like Atlanta) more efficient than car travel. I mean, look at how we’ve got Turner Field set up for MARTA. No train to the park. At one point, the city brain-trust had us walk through Underground to get to Turner if we used MARTA.

As if I’m going to stop at a kiosk to get a crappy airbrushed vanity plate or African head-garb.

Man, there is a story for you to work on: Underground. Title it this: Underground; example of how government trying to act like the private sector does not work. Okay, maybe that is too long, but you get my drift.

And you know what happened to Underground, right? The cops were not allowed to do their job. Underground (before my time, btw) was a cool spot at one time. But then criminals got a toe-hold. Who wants to go to a place where you have to look over your shoulder the whole time?

  • trivia steve

oh, the most priceless thing was that little boy who did the “herp! Ho! herp! ho! patooie! I gotta go, you’re killing me!” intro that the Kimmer used for a long time until the sound card got ruined somehow. That was awesome.

Flush the lines, the newsmaker lines… it rocked.

Two other memories were the day I called in and told the Kimmer i voted for Al Sharpton in the primary (my crossover vote), and the day I called in and suggested that GWB nominate Ken Starr for Supreme Court Justice just to see Ted Kennedy’s (may he rot in H-E- double toothpicks) reaction. I thought the Kimmer was going to have an aneurism right there on the radio, he was laughing so hard.

  • itpdude

Kimmer was the best. I worked a job from 10-7 for a time, so I’d miss him if he was the drive-time guy. But then he went to the “Johnny Midnite” spot.

Good times. Kimmer was the best and it’s been good to hear him on these podcasts. I really wish he were back doing Atlanta radio.

  • Angry Radio Listener

    Damn you Randall Bloomquist!

  • Rupert (Intern Disco Kroger) Heinel

So! How long of a summer break are you two going to take!!! I still see Wayne about every other week since I am the one to get his trivia supplies. Are you planning on bringing in any of the old talent, Most of them can be reached on facebook (except Pete Davis) I haven’t seen him in over a year.

  • Tony F

Earlier this morning, I heard about The Conservative Beacon and the Kimmer’s podcasts, and I came right over to listen. It’s so great to hear the Kimmer active in broadcasting once again! I’m listening to the fourth podcast right now, and am looking forward to hearing the remainder, but am really hoping that there will be more podcasts in the pipeline soon! Thanks, The Conservative Beacon! Thanks, Solomon Brothers! And thank you, Kimmer!

  • Josh Price

@ Rupert: Great have you listening. I’m figuring it will be around Labor Day when Kimmer’s schedule returns to “normal.” I will definitely keep all of you updated.

@Tony F: Welcome to Conservative Beacon! Glad you’re listening as well and hopefully we’ll have some more podcasts towards the fall.

  • Andrew

    Josh,
Just ran across this site on Friday and the Kimmer. I live in Atlanta and have missed the Kimmer as an anchor of sanity during the long commute home. Tell the Kimmer hello and thanks to you, him and the Solomon Brothers for doing this. It appears to me that the June 10th broadcast has been truncated. I get the first 7+ minutes and thats it. Can you check it?

  • Eddieit

What will take to get Kimmer another radio show???????? the podcast are great but, to few and far between. The atlanta radio market has not been the same. Since Kimmer has left, i have not listened to gst and i listened every day until then. now we suck and blither gets my listening ear if i choose to listen to talk radio……….BRING BACK THE KIMMER !

  • Barry Janeway

This is fantastic. I have “googled” Kim Peterson many times since 2006 hoping to find him somewhere on the radio. I miss those days of listening to The Kimmer on the way home in the afternoons. This just brings back great memories. Keep it up and THANKS!!!

  • Lonnie

God bless you Kimmer.I moved from atlanta in 1996 and Ive missed your humor.I hope this continues. P.S. I owe you one for suggesting the yard of ale lol

  • Scot K

Wish Kimmer was still doing this w/ya. I love your site, but Kimmer really got me back to it every week. You do great work and I have enjoyed your site greatly,….but man! It was great to hear from Kimmer again,…sorry to say – you did a awesome job filling in for Wayne. , but I really found/and came back every week because of Kimmer. I have checked on your site from time to time,…but those Podcast were brilliant. Thanks.

  • itpdude

It would be great to have these podcasts come back with a better quality or somehow Kimmer makes it back to radio or goes to sat radio.

  • Ray in Filthadelphia

Kimmer, thanks for coming back and restoring our sanity! Please return to Conservative Beacon soon!

  • Raoul

Kimmer, I’ve tried to fin a way to locate you to ask you for a favor. You read a thank you note on one of your shows about a guy writing a thank-you notes to two sisters that were mixed up and went to the wrong recipients. It was hilarious! All I can remember is that one of the girls gave him a pair of gloves. Can you please send me that letter/ situation? I look forward to hearing you again on the airways. Merry Christmas!

Where’s the Kimmer?!? This website is totally jacked-up.

  • Anonymous

@ Blake: During the the transition from .net to .com some of the files lost their extensions. I’ve just gone back through them all an updated them, so all of the Kimmer’s podcast files should working as of now.

    Enjoy!
