Janet Napolitano refers to Ft. Hood attack as terrorism

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has become the first Obama administration official to refer to the Ft. Hood shooting by Maj. Nidal Hasan as “violent Islamic extremism.”

I’m shocked. And for once I don’t mean that sarcastically. Has hell frozen over?

Trust me, I don’t believe for once second that she genuinely believes the attack at Ft. Hood was an act of terrorism. I think this just the Obama administration’s attempt to deflect some of the criticism we’ve been giving them over their politically-correct approach to the War on Terror Global Contingency Operation.

Janet Napolitano is a moron

Please read Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano’s spinning of the attempted terrorist attack on Christmas Day:

“This was one individual literally of thousands that fly and thousands of flights every year,” said Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, who called flying “very, very safe.”

“And he was stopped before any damage could be done . . . Once this incident occurred, everything happened that should have.”

She believes that everything is fine. This woman (and again, I use the description “woman” here very loosely) is an absolute disgrace as head of Homeland Security. I particular love how she’s implicitly claiming victory for U.S. authorities when they did virtually nothing to prevent the attempted attack.

Our government authorities didn’t do anything to prevent this attack. U.S. authorities were warned about this guy at least 6 months ago and did nothing. Further, it wasn’t TSA or an Air Marshal who thwarted the attempted attack, brave passengers are the ones to thank for that. So it takes a lot of nerve for Janet Napolitano to stand up and praise Homeland Security and the “system.”

She’s a moron. An illegal alien-loving moron.

Work Site Arrests of illegal Immigrants Decrease Dramtically Under Obama Administration

From the Washington Times:

Arrests of illegal immigrant workers have dropped precipitously under President Obama, according to figures released Wednesday.

Criminal arrests, administrative arrests, indictments and convictions of illegal immigrants at work sites all fell by more than 50 percent from fiscal 2008 to fiscal 2009.

According to the newly released figures, administrative arrests of violators of immigration laws fell 68 percent from 2008 to 2009, criminal arrests fell 60 percent, criminal indictments fell 58 percent and convictions fell 63 percent.

Fiscal 2008 ran from Oct. 1, 2007, through Sept. 30, 2008. Fiscal 2009 began Oct. 1, 2008, and ran through Sept. 30 of this year. Mr. Obama took office Jan. 20.

And these numbers come on the heels of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano saying the Obama administration had done such an effective job on illegal immigration that it was time to focus on legalizing the illegals currently residing here.

These numbers really shouldn’t surprise us though. After all, Napolitano has been on record for a while stating her vehement opposition to work place raids on illegals.

The Obama administration places the entire blame of illegal immigration on employers, and while employers are a major component of the problem, they are not the sole problem.

We must focus on all three facets of the illegal immigration problem:

  • Border security and enforcement;
  • Cracking down on employers who hire illegals; and
  • Streamlining the legal immigration process

Focusing on only one of these facets will not solve the problem.

The fact is that the Obama administration, like many of the Republican establishment as well, have no issue with illegal immigrants. They see future voters. The administration, however, is using the issue to advance their anti-business agenda. Why else would the focus solely on the employers of illegals? Why not simultaneously focus on the illegals themselves?

Answer: Because Obama and Napolitano aren’t serious about cracking down on illegal immigration. They are interested only in securing more Democrat voters in the future, and attacking businesses.

The Obama Administration’s Strategy on Immigration

By Josh Price

Chairman Obama’s strategy on immigration reform is bound to fool some into believing is more hawkish on illegal immigration than previously thought. Don’t be deceived.

“We are expanding enforcement, but I think in the right way,” Janet Napolitano, the homeland security secretary, said in an interview.

Ms. Napolitano and other administration officials argue that no-nonsense immigration enforcement is necessary to persuade American voters to accept legislation that would give legal status to millions of illegal immigrants, a measure they say Mr. Obama still hopes to advance late this year or early next.

Let me cut through that nonsense for you. The Obama administration wants those of us who are opposed to illegal immigration to believe he’s cracking down on it so he can then force amnesty for the 12-20 million illegals currently in this country down our throats. They’re trying to make the pill easier to swallow, so to speak

Don’t fall for it.

Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano Act to Restrict Local Law Enforcement’s Ability to Capture Illegal Aliens

By Josh Price

From the Wall Street Journal:

The Department of Homeland Security said Friday it was revising a program that authorized local police to enforce federal immigration law — a controversial aspect of U.S. border policy.

Opponents said the program, known as 287g, was intended to identify criminal aliens but instead has led to racial profiling; it allowed local police to identify and arrest illegal immigrants for such minor infractions as a broken tail light. Program supporters said it has been an effective tool for combating illegal immigration.

The new guidelines sharply reduce the ability of local law enforcement to arrest and screen suspected illegal immigrants. They are intended to prevent sheriff and police departments from arresting people “for minor offenses as a guise to initiate removal proceedings,” according to Homeland Security. The program will instead focus on more serious criminals.

“In a world of limited resources, our view is that we need to focus first and foremost on people committing crimes in our community who should not be here,” said John Morton, Assistant Secretary of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

So according to this ICE stooge, John Morton, only the illegals committing crimes shouldn’t be here? What about all illegals??? No illegal alien has a right to be in this country, whether they commits crimes or not.

The 287g program has been tremendously effective:

In the past two years, more than 120,000 suspected illegal immigrants were identified through the program, and most ended up in deportation proceedings. By comparison, ICE removed 356,739 illegal immigrants from the U.S. during the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2008 — a 23.5% increase over the 2007 total.

Why scale back a program that has clearly been effective in removing illegals from this country? Answer: to reduce the amount of illegals being deported so that Chairman Obama’s push for so-called “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” yields amnesty for the highest possible number of illegals. In other words, Chairman Obama wants as many of the 12-20 million estimated illegals in this country to remain here so that he can grant amnesty to as many of them as possible. After all, in his calculus more illegals granted citizenship equates to more Democrat voters.

That’s the real story here.

Janet Napolitano’s War on Reality

Janet Napolitano

Janet Napolitano

FoxNews.com recently had a story up about the sweeping re-branding effort being undertaken by the Democrats in Washington on policies and their titles. The story cited two of the most astounding and offensive examples:

Global War on Terror is out — “overseas contingency operation” is in.

Terrorist attack is out — “man-caused disaster” is in.

These two “re-brandings” have been out for some time now, but what struck me in this FoxNews.com piece was Janet Napolitano’s quote to the German magazine Der Spiegel:

Napolitano told the German magazine Der Spiegel she’s avoiding such hot-button words like “terrorism” to demonstrate the administration’s desire to “move away from the politics of fear toward a policy of being prepared for all risks that can occur.”

Refusing to call it the War on Terror (or my preference, War on Islamofascism) isn’t a “move away from the politics of fear” Ms. Napolitano, it’s a move away from reality. The reality is that we’re in a war, Ms. Napolitano, not a “contingency operation.” We have been the victims of terrorist attacks not “man-caused disasters,” Ms. Napolitano.

Stop the politically correct assault on reality.

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) on DHS Right-Wing Extremist Report

By Josh Price

At least a few Republicans are finally speaking out against Janet Napolitano and the now infamous Department of Homeland Security report intended to silence dissent from conservatives.

Once again, Sen DeMint of South Carolina is one of the few willing to speak out for and defend conservatives:

“This document is absurd and offensive,” said Sen. DeMint. “It suggests that Secretary Napolitano believes our Navy SEALs could be an equal or greater threat than the pirates they took down. Does the President really agree that veterans and tea party soccer moms are terrorists-in-waiting?”

Sen. DeMint, along with six other senators including David Vitter, James Inhofe, Tom Coburn, Sam Brownback, Richard Burr and Lisa Murkowski, sent a letter to Secretary Napolitano asking her to explain the methodology used in compiling the so-called assessment. (As an aside, Where is the Republican so-called leadership on this? Where is Mitch McConnell?–John Boehner?)

You can read the full letter here.

UPDATE: I owe John Boehner an apology. He indeed has spoken out against DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano’s report. In fact, he actually makes a wonderful point in his statement:

“To characterize men and women returning home after defending our country as potential terrorists is offensive and unacceptable.  The Department of Homeland Security owes our veterans an apology.

“Furthermore, the Secretary of Homeland Security owes the American people an explanation for why she has abandoned using the term ‘terrorist’ to describe those, such as al Qaeda, who are plotting overseas to kill innocent Americans, while her own Department is using the same term to describe American citizens who disagree with the direction Washington Democrats are taking our nation.  Everyone agrees that the Department should be focused on protecting America, but using such broad-based generalizations about the American people is simply outrageous.”

He’s exactly right. It is entirely and blatantly hypocritical to refuse to call the Islamofascists “terrorists” but unflinchingly refer to conservatives and veterans as “terrorists.”

I applaud Boehner for his stance, but he should have gone further; He should have called for her resignation or removal from office.

Janet Napolitano’s Senate Confirmation Vote

By Josh Price

So in the wake of the offensive and frightening Department of Homeland Security report classifying conservatives as “rightwing extremists, I decided to go back and do some research on DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano’s Senate confirmation vote.

I wanted to find out which Republicans voted to confirm her nomination and the ones who voted against it. Well I ran into a slight problem. Her confirmation vote wasn’t conducted individually, it was done en bloc. In other words, it was a package vote on several of Obama’s cabinet nominees, including Napolitano. Fair enough. I should’ve still be able to see the vote results for the package deal, right? Wrong.

It turns out the her nomination was confirmed through a process known as “voice vote.” Here’s the Senate’s definition of voice vote:

A vote in which the Presiding Officer states the question, then asks those in favor and against to say “Yea” or “Nay,” respectively, and announces the result according to his or her judgment. The names or numbers of Senators voting on each side are not recorded.

That’s interesting. The last sentence is quite shocking to me. I didn’t realize senators could cast votes and not have their names or party attached to those votes.  Now that’s some real accountability huh? That’s a story in and of itself, but the questions here are:

Why was the voice vote used for the confirmation of Janet Napolitano as Homeland Security Secretary and; Why was her nomination packaged with others?

Where were the Republicans while this was going on?

Waiting for answers…

Michael Savage Sues DHS for Possible “Right-Wing Extremist” Watchlist Names

By Josh Price

Dr. Michael Savage, by far the most conservative and entertaining radio talk show host, along with the wonderful folks at the Thomas More Law Center, is suing the Department of Homeland Security in response to the report put out by DHS labeling conservatives as “right-wing extremists” and potential “domestic terrorists.”

Dr. Savage wants to see if his or any other conservative media members’ names are on a potential watchlist based on that DHS report titled “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.”

Savage is the first, and so far only, member of the conservative media willing to attach his name on a lawsuit in an attempt to stop the quasi-communist revolution that Chairman Obama and Janet Napolitano have their hearts set on. We at The Conservative Beacon fully support Dr. Savage on this lawsuit  due to his willingness not to just simply talk about the issue but to also do something to stop it.

The Truth About Homeland Security Nominee Janet Napolitano’s anti-Illegal Immigration Record

The Barack Hussein Obama and the Mainstream Media are trying to pass Homeland Security nominee Janet Napolitano off as some kind of a hawk on illegal immigration.

Surprise, surprise. She’s not.

American Spectator’s Rachel Alexander has written a great article illuminating the truth about her overall record, but specifically on illegal immigration:

Although Arizona has the highest rate of illegal immigration in the country, and the highest number of illegal immigrants proportionate to the general population of any state, Napolitano vetoed seven bills as governor that would have cracked down on illegal immigration. She supported drivers’ licenses for illegal immigrants, and took away funding from Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio that he was using to enforce illegal immigration laws. She opposes a border fence, laughingly dismissing it, “you show me a 50 foot fence, I’ll show you a 51 foot ladder.”

Napolitano has made only two symbolic efforts to combat illegal immigration, repeatedly touted by her proponents as evidence she is tough on illegal immigration. The first was sending the National Guard to the border, which she was forced into doing after first vetoing a bill ordering her to. She initially tried to get out of it by claiming it was the federal government’s responsibility to fund the National Guard at the border. Ultimately she sabotaged the effort by limiting the role of the National Guard to administrative functions, not illegal immigration law enforcement.

Napolitano’s second symbolic measure against illegal immigration involved Arizona’s employer sanctions law. When it was first passed by the legislature in 2006, Napolitano vetoed it, claiming it wasn’t tough enough. At the time, everyone knew it was unlikely because she had vetoed every other law against illegal immigration. So the legislature called her bluff. The next year, it passed a tougher version of the bill, and anti-illegal immigration activists circulated an even tougher ballot measure in case she vetoed it. Considering Arizona voters passed four anti-illegal immigration measures with over 70% approval in 2006, Napolitano was trapped and forced to sign it, giving Arizona the toughest employer sanctions law in the nation.

Don’t believe the misinformation put out by Obama and the media. This woman will do absolutely nothing to help quell illegal immigration.  The thought of how much damage this woman can do at Homeland Security is utterly frightening. She’ll make current Secretary Michael Chertoff seem like an anti-illegal immigration stalwart.
